We currently have an exciting opportunity on the Nellson team! We are seeking an energetic and results oriented Maintenance Mechanic with the knowledge and ability to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices and safety procedures, to be part of our team in Ontario, California.  

Role Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic will be part of a team supporting a facility transition from Irwindale, CA to Ontario, CA.  Mechanics must be available to work in Irwindale for several months and then transition to Ontario when the facility opens in the latter part of 2017.  Mechanics will work on 1st shift in Irwindale and will work varying shifts upon the move to Ontario.  Mechanics will work under direct supervision and perform minor manufacturing and facilities repairs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Repair most manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Assesses problems with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Interprets blue prints and schematics.
  • Understands electrical wiring and NEC Code
  • Basic PLC skills
  • Understands Lock Out Tag Out Procedures
  • Experience with Packaging Equipment (wrappers/Loaders/Carton Formers/Carton Closers)
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Uses all standard tools of the trade.
  • Follows code and regulatory requirements.
  • Practices and follows safety requirements.
  • Completes documents as required by department guidelines
  • Be familiar with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software)
  • Complies with all SOP's and GMP's

  Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have knowledge of blue prints and schematics.
  • Must have basic to advance knowledge of electrical circuits and PLC's. 
  • Must have basic to advance code and regulatory knowledge. 
  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Must be flexible to change of priorities on assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate and interface on all levels effectively. 
  • Must be able to operate machinery such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and all power and hand tools applicable to the position.
