We currently have an exciting opportunity on the Nellson team! We are seeking an energetic and results oriented Sourcing Specialist to support Sourcing and Procurement team in collecting and analyzing data related to ingredients and packaging components at our Anaheim, CA location.

Role Summary:

The Sourcing Specialist will assist Sourcing and Procurement team in workload management, contract administration, data entry, reporting etc.  Utilizes data to identify trends and patterns in purchasing activity for improvement.  Focuses on leveraging organizational spend with primary responsibility of data collection, cleansing, modeling, and reporting of results.



  • Routine sourcing data collection and analysis of ingredients and packaging components to identify opportunities for improvement, identify potential.  Performs hold cost modelling and identifies variables to consider in TCO, identifies market constraints and supports overall category planning.
  • Works with R&D on behalf of Global Sourcing to routine cleanse data and ensure accuracy of existing formulations.  Supports R&D in identifying potential sku candidates for duplication and/or end of lifecycle. 
  • Monitors contracts and supports category managers in ensuring all terms and conditions of contracts are met both by supplier and Nellson in support of maintaining positive relationships.  Keeps a record of supplier metrics and notifies category managers when a problem occurs.
  • Continuously monitors and ensures the integrity of information used in cost/benefit analysis and supplier data.  Establishes data mapping (definitions and business rules, requirements, etc. to source data, etc.) to ensure accuracy in supply records.
  • Performs routine analysis of supplier performance to contract terms and agreements (or MOU).  Reviews local purchasing activity for supplier performance and reports data to category managers for performance management.  May support and / or conduct quarterly business reviews.
  • Tracks, monitors and reports total spend across all sites within the organization.  Leverages internal reporting (site to corporate) to monitor the total flow of inventory in and out of all locations.  Aggregates data to identify opportunities for inventory sharing, MOQ consolidation and monitors all incoming and outgoing materials to ensure cross location leverage.
  • Liaison between global sourcing and site purchasing / materials management to support the minimization of stock outs while simultaneously ensuring lean and JIT protocols are compliant at site level.
  • Understanding of all regulatory issues that impact the ability to procure and transport raw materials and packaging components. 
  • As requested per Ops/Finance process parameters, analyze cost structure for new ingredients or reformulations to provide support for customer business case and cost of item procurement.
  • Prepare and distribute preliminary information forms.  Support Category Managers in developing pre-proposal and pre-bid meetings and conferences to summarize solicitation requirements and answer questions.


Education and/or experience required

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 7+ years' experience in food, beverage or pharmaceutical industries with a demonstrated understanding of all aspects of key business processes feeding into and out of sourcing
  • Certification in Production and Inventory Management or Certified Supply Chain Profession considered a plus
  • Advanced level of experience with MS Excel
  • Understanding of JD Edwards considered a plus
  • High analytical and detail-oriented skills
  • Effective negotiation and persuasiveness skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong multi-tasking/prioritization/organizational skills
